Castings Technology Motorsport is backing road racer Dan Ingham as he gears up for his Isle of Man TT debut this June, following his victory in the 2024 Manx Grand Prix. Ingham, 33, will contest the TT’s newly introduced Sportbike category aboard the team’s Aprilia RS660 and the Supersport class on a factory-supported Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R on the legendary 37¾-mile mountain circuit.

South Yorkshire-based Castings Technology is a leading UK manufacturer of complex, high-integrity titanium and steel components and is relocating to a new Sheffield facility to meet growing demand from global customers.

To support its ambitions in motorsport, it has established Castings Technology Motorsport as a dedicated entity with its own sponsorship programme and commercial partners.

The sponsorship reflects a longstanding personal connection as Castings Technology managing director Richard Cook has known the Ingham family for decades through a shared passion for motorcycling.

Cook said: “Watching Dan develop over the years has been a privilege. Winning the Manx Grand Prix was his lifelong dream, and now he is stepping up to the TT, which is a different level entirely. It is a bit like going from the Championship to the Premier League.”

Cook is a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and is a regular on the UK track day scene at Mallory, Donington, Cadwell and Oulton Parks, as well as circuits across Europe.

He acquired a rare Honda RC30 in 1993 and knew specialist mechanic and racer Martin Ingham, who maintained the bike during its warranty period.

The Ingham’s are a family of motorcycle enthusiasts, from Grandfather Trevor to sons Dan and Jamie.

Cook witnessed Dan’s talent for the first time at a Donington Park track day.

The teenager arrived on a 400cc machine and out-paced experienced riders with more powerful machinery.

Cook told Martin that if he ever had the means to back Dan, he would. When Castings Technology’s fortunes improved following a 2021 management buyout led by Cook, he made good on that promise.

Support began with a new Aprilia RS660 and a travel allowance for Northern Irish road races and the Manx Grand Prix.

Dan improved steadily, and in 2024 the team provided a new Yamaha GYTR R6 to replace bikes in the Supersport class that had previously been kindly loaned to Dan, firstly by Strangford Holiday Park and latterly Russell Brook (Brook Built).

Dan won, riding to victory in the senior race in difficult, weather-interrupted conditions and competing against professional teams equipped with significant budgets and substantial infrastructure, versus a transit van and a gazebo!

Afterwards, Dan had an emotional video call with his father, who was recovering from a serious accident at the time, and mother, Amanda.

Following the success, Brent Gladwin of GR Motosport, a multiple championship-winning team principal with 30 years in the sport, joined the team as an advisor and was central to securing the factory Kawasaki relationship.

Dan’s older brother Jamie, also backed by Castings Technology Motorsport, races in the NG Road Racing Championships on short circuits.

In 2025 he finished third in the Minitwins championship despite missing nine rounds through injury and becoming a father to twins in August.

The 2026 season represents the team’s most significant race budget to date, though it also carries the highest level of external sponsorship the team has attracted, with a growing number of backers coming on board.

Cook added: “The consistency of lap times around a 37¾-mile mountain circuit is an incredible thing: sometimes just a few seconds separating the elite riders and almost robotically consistent over 6-laps (226 miles!). That draws a direct parallel to what we do in the foundry. Most engineers are fascinated by how you go faster, smoother, more precisely, and how you do it safely. Dan has that rare aptitude. He is one of the most consistently smooth and safe riders I have watched around the island, and that is exactly what we want.”

The team is actively seeking new commercial partners to join their existing, highly valued sponsors.
